Fernando Otero - Concerto For Violoncello & String Orchestra -
Inbal Segev, Violoncello
Finding myself in front of a blank sheet of music paper has always been a source of enthusiasm for me. It is a signal expressing the idea that pleasant moments are already present. I could never implement a system when composing a piece of music. I could never find one. For me, each musical fragment has its personality and unique requirements, and they ask for a new procedure, always novel and specific, with no antecedents. The process is enjoyable and full of new challenges. After sharing the stage with Inbal for over a decade, visualizing compositional elements for this Concerto for Cello & String Orchestra was quite fluid for me. However, I wrote the complete Concerto twice, perhaps searching for refining its vocabulary, or who knows, pure hedonism. I finished writing this concert some time ago when using a mask was only reserved for surgeries, childbirth, Japanese tourists, and Venetian Carnivals. Listening to this finished recording brought me great joy, ecstasy, and inspiration. And I especially appreciate having the opportunity to feel an incredible feeling of gratitude towards Inbal, Tom, and each of the Brooklyn Rider String Quartet members. Thanks for thinking of me to contribute this piece; thank you for materializing this project with excellence
